How Bistro City works

You run a restaurant: hire staff, choose a menu, serve customers for coins and gourmet points, and use them to grow. The loop takes about thirty seconds to learn:

  1. Open your restaurant. Place tables, chairs and a stove.
  2. Hire staff. Give each one a job: cook, waiter or cleaner.
  3. Choose your menu. Pick dishes for each course: starters, mains, desserts and drinks.
  4. Serve customers. Every meal pays coins and gourmet points, which raise your level.
  5. Learn and level up dishes. Collect ingredients to learn new recipes and take them up to level 10.
  6. Decorate and grow. Each level can bring a bigger room, more staff and more dishes on the menu.
  7. Visit friends. Help their restaurants, trade ingredients and see how they decorated.

Your staff get tired as they work, so part of the fun is managing who works and who rests. Your restaurant stays open as long as at least one cook and one waiter have work time left.

What you can do in Bistro City

In Bistro City you cook, collect ingredients, grow a garden, trade, help friends and decorate, all inside one restaurant that keeps growing with your level.

  • Cook from a big menu. 75 recipes are available now across four courses. The game data also includes 28 seasonal event recipes that have not reopened yet.
  • Collect 62 ingredients. Each has a rarity from one to five stars, from everyday tomatoes to rare lobster and saffron.
  • Grow a garden. Garden plots open from level 6. Plant seeds, water them and harvest ingredients.
  • Trade with friends. Swap ingredients to get the one you are missing.
  • Answer the daily food quiz. You get 10 seconds per question, and a right answer wins an ingredient.
  • Help friends' restaurants. Put out fires, fix leaks and chase off unexpected visitors for coins and points.
  • Meet the Food King. He sometimes visits with prizes to choose from.
  • Decorate everything. Furniture, floors, walls, windows, the outside of your restaurant, and even an arcade machine with a mini game you can play.

Bistro City and Restaurant City

Bistro City is inspired by Restaurant City, the Facebook game Playfish ran from 2009 to 2012. Much of the core play will feel familiar to its players: tired staff, four courses, dishes that level up to 10, rare ingredients and helping friends. Bistro City is a separate, independent game.
